Dorset County Asylum,Mental Nurses Badge and long service medals
An Interesting group to a male Mental Nurse who trained andd served at what was the Dorset County Asylum and later became the Herrison Hospital near Dorchester.They consist of a bronze pendant badge for the Medico-Psychological Association engraved for Frank Woodland,Very good condition.
Secondly we have bronze medal suspended from a maroon silk ribbon.The face bears a shield with three lions.The reverse has DCA(Dorset County Asylum) Good Conduct and Service Medal F Woodland 5 Years within a wreath Height 80mm
Last is a silver medal version of number 2 with three lions once again,the rear is also engraved for F Woodland with 12 years.Hallmarked for J.M Birmingham 1920.
Frank Woodland is shown on the GNC register as having registered on May 19th 1922 as RMN number 132.He is shown as having trained at the Dorset Mental Hospital Herrison near Dorchester between 1909-1912.He still appears on the registers as working there until at least 1946 so fulfilling a long career in Mental Nursing.
