St Pauls Eye Hospital,silver nurses badge
A popular Silver and enamel Nurses badge from the St Paul's Eye Hospital Liverpool. Originally founded in 1871,the later hospital was opened in 1912.The badge shows a ship in full sail,partly as a reference to St Paul,his blindness and subsequent healing and his many journeys by sea.The ship also denotes Liverpool's famous maritime heritage. In very good condition,the pin however is a temporary replacement. Marked to the rear for Susan Croft 1.3.72. Silver hallmarks for WJD (William James Dingley) Birmingham 1971 height 32mm
