Central London Sick Asylum District,Cleveland Street Infirmary,Nurses League.

An extremely rare Nurses League badge for the Central London Sick Asylum District which was created by the Metropolitan Asylums board in 1868.Situated in what had been the Strand Union Infirmary in Cleveland Street,in the original Georgean Workhouse buildings it was renamed the Cleveland Street Infirmary.It was used as a Children's Hospital by the MAB until its closure in September 1915.I believe this Nurses League badge dates to the early years of the 20th century .In later years the hospital became an annexe to the nearby Middlesex hospital.
