A base metal and enamel badge for the Argyll & Bute Hospital Lochgilphead.This was a Mental Hospital which finally closed in 2016.The design features a St Andrew's cross in silver on blue enamel.The top quarter bears a boars head and the bottom quarter the Lion of Scotland.Across this is the Gaelic word Dochas meaning Hope,Trust or Reliance.The hospital title appears on a white enamel border to the edge.Very good condition.A buttonhole fixing as worn by male nurses,Named D McLennan 1947.Makers Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent Street Birmingham Height 31mm
