A scarce silver plated base metal and enamel midwives badge from the William Smellie Memorial Hospital in Lanark.Founded in 1748 and named after William Smellie, the father of Midwifery, this pattern of badge was first issued in 1975 before the design was amend soon after to reflect the name change to Lanarkshire School of Midwifery.In good condition with minimal wear to the plated finish.Pin and clasp intact.Unmarked to rear.Height 33mm
