Whipps Cross Hospital,Nurses Badge
A brass and enamel Nurses badge for Whipps Cross Hospital from the 1920s.Opened as the West Ham Union Infirmary in 1903,it was approved as a Nurse Training School in 1921.This badge features a central shield which bears the coat of arms of West Ham.Around the rim is an outer blue enamel circle which bears the Hospital title and the hospital motto - Aim High.The rear bears makers marks for Thomas Fattorini Ld,Regent St,Birmingham. Some surface scratches but condition generally good for age.Pin and clasp good.Engraved to rear E Hayes 1909-12( The badge would have been issued retrospectively for earlier training when the school first opened)
