Victorian Silver Plated Medical Tongue Depressor

An unusual item of Medical equipment from the Victorian (or possibly earlier)era. A doctors boxed silver plated tongue depressor. the folding hinged item is 97mm long and when open, to just under 90 degrees,is weight slightly for ease of use.It comes in its original fitted wooded lined case(which unfortunately has damage to the hinge).It carries silver plate marks for SC&Co. and a crown, which I have been unable to identify.An unusual item.
