A trio of badges awarded to the same nurse,Doris M Oliver. The first is for the General Nursing Council For England & Wales in silver and enamel.It is named for DM Oliver SRN 1593 3.2.22(This is Doris Musgrave Oliver) Enamel is good but the clasp is missing although the pin remains.Height 27mm
The second item is the original first pattern silver and enamel badge of the London Hospital.The badge was first designed in 1929 and this pattern was awarded (as in this case retrospectively) between 1931 and 1933.Complaints about the large size whose weight strained the starched aprons led to it being replaced by the smaller more traditional badges shortly after that. Condition is very good although with some surface wear. Pin,clasp and safety catch are all good.Named for Doris M Oliver Oct 1915 -April 1918 September 1920 Makers mark for J Pinches London Height 46mm This is in its original wooden silk lined presentation case in good condition.
The third is a silver and enamel badge for the College of Nursing which was later to become the Royal College of Nursing.This first pattern of badge was in use from 1921 and features the C&N on a blue enamel background
In good condition, pin and clasp present .Makers mark for J R Gaunt London Numbered for 17625 and Duplicate Height 47mm
