A quartet of Badges issued to the same male nurse from the late 1940s through to the early 1960s.
These are a chrome and enamel General Nursing Council for England & Wales badge, with button hole fixing.This named to W H Derbyshire RMN 28862 4.8.59.this is Walter Herbert Derbyshire who is shown as being registered after training at Stanley Royd Hospital.Interestingly he is also shown as being entered onto the SEAN roll on 23.12.49 under rule 14 and 43, having worked at The Westmoreland Sanatorium Grange over Sands, although no badge is present.
The second item is a bronze Stanley Royd Hospital badge, being unmarked.Height 35mm
The third item is a silver and enamel badge for Middleton Hospital Ilkley, which was a TB sanatorium.Unnamed but hallmarks for TJS Chester 1951.Good condition, pin and clasp intact.Height 28mm.I can find no qualifications for training here but I suspect it relates to the SEAN, possibly for subsequent service?
The last item is a silver and enamel badge for the Oulton Hall Hospitals.This was a Learning Disabilities Hospital in Leeds and WH Derbyshire is shown in the GNC registers as having qualified as a RNMS here on 12.4.61.It depicts rose motif with an owl for Leeds to the centre.In excellent condition although pin is tight .Named for Walter Herbert Derbyshire Feb 1961.Hallmarked for BMC & co (Birmingham Medal Company) Birmingham 1972.Height 32mm
