A scarce Silver and enamel badge for St Lawrence Hospital Caterham Surrey. the octagonal badge features a central image of the saint holding a gridiron engulfed in flamed(signifying the manner of his martyrdom)
Originally one of the Metropolitan Asylums Board Mental Asylums it finally closed in 1994.

Originally the Union workhouse Infirmary for Greenwich and Deptford it wa sone of the hospitals to come under the control of the LCC in 1929 being renamed as St Alfeges Hospital in 1931.
