St Pancras Infirmary, silver Nurses badge
An early silver nurses badge from the St Pancras Infirmary.Originally the Infirmary serving the St Pancras Workhouse, it was so overcrowded a second Infirmary building to the north was built.These become known as St Pancras Infirmary South and North.The North infirmary was later renamed Highgate Hospital and the South St Pancras Hospital(in 1920).The design features an image of the young Saint holding a palm frond.the Hospital title appears on a band around the edge.The rear is unmarked but bears a hallmark for W&R Chester 1908 . Unfortunately missing its suspension bar but a rare piece Height 39mm
