Midwifery Silver Stork Umbilical Chord Clamps

A rare antique silver metal stork which were intended as umbilical cord clamps.They stand on square foot bases with a scissor type mechanism, hinged at the eye.The storks bill with serrations forms the clamp.A snakes symbol of health & Healing, is wound around the the birds neck and beak .A baby can be seen swaddled in the storks stomach.Fully Hallmarked for WWW(William Wrangler Williams)London 1867
