The London Hospital Whitechapel, Original First Pattern Large Silver Nurses Badge
An original first pattern silver and enamel badge of the London Hospital. The badge was first designed in 1929 and this pattern was awarded (as in this case retrospectively) between 1931 and 1933.Complaints about the large size whose weight strained the starched aprons led to it being replaced by the smaller more traditional badges shortly after that. For more information on the history please check out Sarah Rogers excellent article; http://www.schoolsofnursing.co.uk/Collections1/Collections25.htm
