A superb cased presentation badge for the Princess Alice Memorial Hospital Eastbourne.Named the Jane Potts Medal it was presented to the best "All round" nurse to complete their training.Jane Potts was the governess of Princess Alice and lived in Eastbourne.
The badge is based upon the standard nurses badge for the hospital and features the winged bull, the representative symbol of St Luke,the patron saint of medicine.The two piece construction has the bull in relief on a navy blue background with the hospital title on a white surround.This hangs on a yellow and blue striped silk ribbon suspended from an enamelled pin back brooch bar with Jane Potts medal.Excellent condition in its original fitted case .Named to D W Fisher 1939.Hallmarks for WJD (William James Dingley) Birmingham 1934 Height 76mm
