A rare antique silver metal stork which were intended as umbilical cord clamps.These stand on a foot in the shape of a small turtle.They have a scissor type mechanism, hinged at the eye.The storks bill forms the clamp.A snake symbol of health & Healing, is wound around the the birds neck and beak .A baby can be seen swaddled in the storks stomach.Fully Hallmarked for JMB(John Millward Banks)London 1891
