Turkish Style, Original Antique brass & Linen Fanoos Lamp,

An unusual item being an original 19th Century Turkish Fanoos lamp.This is the style of lamp as was used by Florence Nightingale and her nurses at the base Hospital at Scutari during the Crimean war.
The folding concertina form has a brass base and lid with a suspension hook .When folded it takes up a small amount of storage space.The base has a holder for a candle and the waxed linen surround protects the candle flame and applies the light slightly. In a well used condition with moderate wear ,to be expected, it resembles the style of lamp held in the Florence Nightingale Museum at St Thomas' hospital London,and actually used by FN.
