The Isobel Morcom Medal for Outstanding Nursing Service, Worcester

an Isobel Morcom medal for Outstanding Nursing Service. An interesting cased medal which has links to both Alan Turing and AE Houseman, namely through the property the Clock House,Fockbury near Bromsgrove. Endowed by her husband after her death in 1941 it appears to have been awarded through the 1950s and 60s although this one is named and dated for 1975.Their son Christopher was a school friend of Alan Turing who often visited prior to Christphers death from Tuberculosis in the 1930s. The reverse shows a Peartree and the Latin phrase Comitatus Wigorniensis for the County of Worcester. Beautifully cast it bears the initials for HP, Humphrey Paget, a noted medalist. It appears that it may have awarded for community nursing.
