Welsh Hospital Netley Xmas 1914,silver plated Vesta case

A rare First World War silver plated vesta case engraved for the Welsh Hospital at Netley Xmas 1914.
The hutted hospital was built shortly after the outbreak of war in 1914,in the grounds of the Royal Victoria Hospital Netley near Southampton. It was funded by the people of Wales with different huts and beds often named for the communities which raised the monies for them. It treated over 2000 patients in the first few months of the year and in 1914 the local community donated money to provide gifts to the inpatients at Christmas.This engraved silver plated match case was one of those gifts, and are now hard to find.It measures 54mm by 40mm and is in generally good condition with minor rubbing and surface wear.
