One of a number of caps and hats I shall be listing, these first all belonging a nurse from Suffolk during the 1930s and 40s.Phyllis Elliot Wardell(nee Swindell )trained at the West Suffolk hospital from 1924-28 and later lived and worked in Lowestoft also being a member of the British Red Cross Society.
This next is a peaked ski type cap as worn with outdoor uniform for a state registered nurse from the 1940s, The cloth cap has a light blue silk band with an embroidered patch featuring the figure of Hygeia from the badge of the General Nursing Council for England & Wales. The condition is good for its age, with only no apparent other damage. There is age related wear . The lining has a label for the Danco Uniform Association. There is also a CC41 Utility label denoting it was approved for civilian issue from 1941-52 .Size appears to be quite small
