Antique Pewter Plate St Bartholomew's Hospital
An unusual antique pewter plate bearing the seal of St Bartholomew's Hospital. Pewter was widely used up to the 1800s, being valued for its durability. The plate has a diameter of 27.5cm and has a central emblem of the seal of St Bartholomew's Hospital. There are a number of touch marks to the front which may identify the maker but I have yet to do so.The rear bears further marks for London and a Locke mark with AD 84, probably 1784.Slightly misshapen but otherwise good
