Birmingham Infirmary, Nunquam Non Paratus, Early Nursing/Midwifery Badge

A Bronze pendant badge which I believe was an early Privately purchased generic Nursing/Midwifery badge. These appear to have been bought by Nurses across a range of Hospitals which did not issue their own badges. Many were then engraved with the either the initials of the nurse or details of the training hospital,as in this case. They have been identified with date ranges from circa 1905 to the 1920s.They are found in two sizes and this is a variant of the larger one of those.
The shield shaped badge, which has been manufactured to have a curved bottom bears an image of Florence Nightingale with her lamp and a feeding cup.The motto Nunquam Non Paratus-Never Unprepared. This is suspended from a plain bronze pin back bar which also has the ability to be mounted on a ribbon. The rear is engraved A.M. Mann Certified Medical and Surgical Birmingham Infirmary. This was the early name for what was later to become the Dudley Road Hospital.
This is one of the large pattern badges and with bar measures in at 80mm
