United Sheffield Hospitals School of Nursing,Silver Nurses Badge

A Silver and enamel Nurses badge from the United Sheffield Hospitals School of Nursing from the 1960s.The central design features the Caduceus or winged staff with entwined snakes.(This is wrongly attributed as being an ancient symbol of Medicine when in fact the Rod of Asclepius is the correct emblem).This overlays a book with the sheath of arrows and three Wheat sheaves taken from the arms of the city.Condition very good ,Pin,clasp and safety roller catch all good .Engraved to rear United Sheffield Hospitals Janice Marjorie Wilson 3.1.71- 23.3.74 Hallmarked for Thomas Fattorini Birmingham 1967
