Gaston Hoffmann, French Medical lithographs,La Belle Operation

One of number of Signed coloured lithographs by the French artist Gaston Hoffmann from the 1950s.His humorous illustrations often poked fun at the professional figures of Medicine and the Law. Each picture is approx 45cm by 32cm on a thick cream paper.All are signed with some being numbered.

The first is title La Belle Operation-The Beautiful Operation and shows a suited doctor holding up a naked female figurine surrounded by gowned surgeons whilst a nurse watches on with a patient on an operating table in the lithotomy position!
