London County Council,Silver Heatherwood Hospital Nurses Badge
Another of the the popular London County Council Hospital Nurses badges issued between 1930 and 1948.This one is for Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot which was opened in the early 1920s, funded by the United Services Fund for the children of servicemen from the First World War. It specialised in the treatment of Surgical Tuberculosis and Orthopaedic conditions and was an advocate of Open Air Therapy which was believed to be beneficial for such patients.
The badge features the blue enamelled cross with central shield bearing the LCC crest,this one on a silver background..The crest is good.The pin and safety roller catch are present .Silver hallmarks for Fattorini & Sons,Birmingham 1931.Height 31mm
