A rare prize medal, in 9ct Gold for Nurse training at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital for Women,London
Named for the woman to become the first woman doctor in the UK, the hospital was originally the New Hospital for Women, for many years staffed entirely by women.
The medal features a winged figure holding a snake ,the emblem of Medicine. Around the edge is the name of the hospital.The reverse bears the name of the recipient, eresa Ann Snowden,1968-1971.It is marked on the rim 9ct .it is suspended from its original silk ribbon of black and white stripes and has a pin back fixing.In good condition.
The medal itself weighs approximately 10 grams, A rare and lovely piece but if you buy this for its scrap value I will haunt you forever !!
