A nice silver and enamel mental nurses badge for the Parkside Hospital Macclesfield.Originally opened as the Second Cheshire County Asylum in 1841, it was renamed Parkside Hospital in 1948 upon joining the NHS.
The design has a shield with a sword with the three wheat sheaves of Cheshire, within a laurel wreath.The hospital title appears on a blue band around the edge. Very good condition with button hole type fixing, denoting issue to a male nurse.Engraved for R W Grose 1941.Hallmarked for Fattorini & sons Birmingham 1956, suggesting this was issued retrospectively for earlier training.height 29mm
