Moorfields Eye Hospital Affiliated with Charing Cross Hospital Nurses Badge
One of the many variations of the "Moorfields Cross" badge awarded over the years by Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. The original badge was first presented in 1927-28 but with subsequent affiliations and changes the design underwent several subtle variations, as listed in "British Nursing Badges" by Jennifer Meglaughlin.
In 1933 Moorfields was affiliated with the Charing Cross Hospital in the Strand.and the badge was changed to reflect this, taking the form of the Maltese cross but with a central imperial crown around which on a blue enamel band is Charing Cross Moorfileds . A further affiliation in 1934 led to another change so this pattern would only have been issued for a matter of months and is therefore extremely scarce.
