A pair of badges awarded to the same nurse for her training in the 1930s and 40s. The first is a silver and enamel badge for. New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton.Originally the Workhouse Infirmary opened in 1903, it was renamed as New Cross Hospital in 1930. The design features a Maltese Cross with a central disc bearing the coat of arms of Wolverhamton in a blue border with the hospital name.Condition to the face is good. The Pin attachment is missing however and it can no the worn. Makers marks for Thomas Fattorini Limited Birmingham.Named to N Smith Dec 1940 107996. Silver hallmarks for TF Birmingham 1937.
The second item is a Chrome and enamel badge for the General Nursing Council for England & Wales.Moderate condition with some surface rubbing but otherwise intact. Pin and clasp are intact, safety chain in situ.Named for N Smith SRN 107996 22.11.40. This is Nina Smith who is shown in the register as having trained at New Cross Hospital from 1937-1940.
