Holborn & Finsbury Hospital, Silver Nurses Badge

An absolute stunner of a badge and one of my all time favourites,This is a silver and enamel nurses badge for the Holborn & Finsbury Hospital .It consists of a two piece construction with a concave five petalled rose in red enamel with a silver edge.In the centre is an enamelled shield with a St Georges cross with the wounded hart of St Giles in the centre,topped with three scallop shells.This is the coat of arms of Holborn.
Holborn Infirmary was renamed Holborn & Finsbury Hospital in 1921 before being renamed the Archway Hospital in 1930 which then in turn became part of the Whittington Hospital.
Condition is very good although there is some enamel damage to the left hand petal and part of the central cross..Pin and clasp good.Engraved to the rear Holborn & Finsbury Hospital Laura Pantry Nov. 1925 to Nov 1928 .Silver hallmarks for RS( Spencer) Birmingham 1928 Height 35mm
