A rare members badge for the British College of Nurses from the late 1920s.Not to be mistaken for the College of Nursing,this body was founded by Ethel Gordon Fenwick in 1926 as a rival organisation to fight for Professional Nurses.
The badge,first produced in 1928,was available to members to purchase for 7s 6d(37.5p).The design consisted of a pendant badge bearing the head of the the President taken from the seal,and the watchwords Knowledge,Service,Charity ,Honour surrounded by a raised wreath of oak leaves.The pin back suspension bar bears the title British College of Nurses.
