Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle, Silver Nurses Badge

A popular silver and enamel nurses training badge for the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle. The design features a Wyvern whose tail is curled around the letters CI for Cumberland Infirmary. On a rich navy blue background, the enamel is in very good condition.Pin and clasp good. Named for A S Barbour , hallmarked for V&S (Vaughton & son) Birmingham 1931. This may be Annie Stevenson Barbour who later undertook her Midwifery training in Scotland and was still practising in the 1960s.
