A commemorative two piece crystal trinket box with the emblem of the Princess Alexandra's RAF Hospital Wroughton, (near Swindon). Originally set up in 1941, attached to the RAF basest continued after the war as later took NHS patients as well.It was renamed as the Princess Alexandra's RAF Hospital after 1967.It was the primary destination for returning casualties from the Falklands war in 1982, but finally closed on 31st March 1996.
The lid of this square pot is engraved with the unit crest of the Hospital which features a castle with a red cross above the motto "Salubritas Per Industriam"-Health Through Work. Condition is good with no chips, cracks or flaws.Size 71mm by 71mm by 41 mm

A scarce 9 inch high figurine of a Boer War Military Nurse.She is attired in a representation of uniform of the period,namely a Floor length Khaki dress with white apron and cuffs,frilled cap with tails and red cross armband.She wears a nurses chatelaine at her belt,containing the nursing implements.The piece is coloured to the front only as it was designed to stand on a mantlepiece against a wall.No makers mark but there is a model number 3410 to the rear. (There was a companion piece to this one of a British Boer War soldier)
Good overall condition, although with age related marks as may be expected. height 225mm

A nice Porcelaine figurine of a nurse from the 1970s from the East German factory of Grafenthal.Finely modelled it features a nurse in pale blue uniform with white apron and cap, she sports a badge at her neck.She is in the process of writing on a chart.It is marked on the base with the Grafenthal crown above GDR.Very good condition with no chips, cracks or flaws. A limited edition Coalport figurine of Sister Lawrence from St Mary's Hospital Paddington 1895-1900.This was issued for the 60th Anniversary of the Hospital's Nurses League,in 1982,in an edition of 1500, this figure being numbered 317 .Standing at approximately 210mm the nurse wears an Edwardian style full length uniform with white apron,sleeve protectors and frilled cap with bows.In very good condition, with matching certificate but minus box.
