A brass and enamel badge for the Incorporated Society of Trained Masseuses.Founded in 1894 and incorporated in 1900,the organisation went on to become the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
The lozenge shape badge features the initials ISTM within a blue enamel border bearing the organisation title and the dates 1894 and 1900.Below this is a red ribbon with the motto Digna Sequens- Following Worthy Things
Condition is good but with some surface scratches and minor enamel chips.Pin is intact.Makers mark for Barnard Rd No.655845 Engraved 1823 Gwendolen M U Wigston. This is Gwendolyn Mary Ursula Wigston of North Pickenham Swaffham Norfolk who shows as having gained her certificate in Medical Electricity in June 1919. A scarce early physiotherapy badge rarely seen nowadays.Height 40mm

World War Two Medal Group

World War Two Medal Group

An interesting group of Second World War Service medals with matching miniatures for a Temporary lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve,H R Hatch.They consist of a 1939-45 star,Atlantic star with France and Germany bar,African Star with North Africa 1942-43 bar,Pacific Star with Pacific bar and War Medal 1939-45.These are court mounted.
Records show that H R Hatch saw service on a number of vessels including HMS Waveney,HMS Hind and HMS Crane.
Also included is his dog tag.
He later trained as an Operating Theatre Assistant and included are his badge from the regional school of ODAs at Guidford along with his membership badge of the Institute of Operating Theatre Technicians.

Homecraft Training Society Silver Badge

A small silver and enamel Brooch style badge for the Mothercraft Training Society,which had previously been known as the Babies of the Empire Society .This organisation appears to have been founded in 1917 and ran until the 1950s.It offered training to Nurses ,Midwives and mothers on the principles of successful child-rearing.It operated the Princess Elizabeth of York Hostel in Winchester road Highgate.
The design features two infants either side of a globe bearing the title Babies of the Empire,,On a blue enamel scroll at the base is the title Mothercraft Training Society. The rear has a pin and clasp fixing .It bears hallmarks for JAW & Co( J A Wylie & Co,Holborn Viaduct),Birmingham 1935 Size Width 35mm by height 18mm

A First World War badge from the Kensington War Hospitals Supply depot.These occupied a number of houses in Kensington Square & Cromwell Road,London and over 1000 volunteers worked to provide the Bandages,swabs and dressings,as well as furniture ,to stock war hospitals both at home and oversees.
