The Irish War Hospital Supply Depot, based at 40 Merrion Square Dublin, provided supplies to hospitals treating wounded from the trenches. Some 2000 volunteers supply anything from bandages to life jackets. The depot would supply up to 15,000 items a week to hospitals.

Originally opened in 1932 as a colony for Mental Defectives at the Botley Park Estate near Chertsey in Surrey,part of the site served as an Emergency Hospital during WW2. The Mansion house ,which features on the badge,was used as Nursing and patient accommodation( the hospital finally closed in 1997 and the house is now a luxury wedding venue!)
